# Navigation Games

Navigation Games seeks to create orienteering plans that work for all the children in a class. We adjust based on the background and abilities of the class, but much of our work is focused on younger children who struggle with understanding a map, and need a step by step progression of concepts.

Themes from our work:

* No compass while learning how to read a map on school grounds or in parks. Build up the idea of a reference direction before bringing in the compass.
* No map while learning to build up a mental map of control locations.
* Work with entire school districts to get a consistent curriculum into the schools. The ideal situation is to have a curriculum that is coordinated between Physical Education and the regular classrooms. In the early lessons, classroom time gives the children the chance to draw their own maps of spaces they are familiar with.
